And the Project Is...

This really cool necklace that I found on the Tatertots and Jello website!  I decided to change it from nautical-tastic to sleek and chic black and white prints!  I made one for my mom for Mother's Day.  I won't lie, part of my black and white and large bead inspiration was in honor of my Granny, who could rock jewelry like none other.  She was infamous for her black pants and unique jewels.

So, without further ado, here it is!

I think my favorite part is the pleating!
And I loved it so much... I made one for me too!  I am planning on wearing this to work tomorrow!  It is Open House for rising sixth graders and their parents...does it make me look like I know what I am doing?
And, it uses my new favorite print, Houndstooth!  There is something peculiarly unique about it!

And I have to share what my furbabies rode the bus out to get for Mother's Day!
Could they be any more perfect?

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!

The Only Thing to Make Cinco De Mayo Better...

... would be that there is no school and it could be an all day festival of all my favorite mexican meals!

However, I'm at work, dreaming of my fabulous dinner in the works.  Tonight is Taco Night, although I usually make enchiladas for Cinco de Mayo.  This year, I am switching it up, but wanted to share my fantastic (and waaaay easy) enchilada recipe!

Aunt Cathy's Enchiladas

1 lb. cooked chicken (I usually boil mine and then shred)
1 c. sour cream
1 c. cheddar cheese
1 medium onion chopped
Flour tortillas (I usually use about 14)
Olive oil
Salsa

Pour about 1/2 c. of salsa on the bottom of a 9x13 and swirl to coat.
Combine cooked, shredded chicken with sour cream, cheese and onion.  Stir.

Taking one tortilla at a time, rub a little olive oil on both sides to make it more pliable.  Put 1/4-1/3 c. scoop of chicken on the inside and tightly roll the tortilla.  Repeat until your 9x13 is full.
Top with salsa so all the enchiladas are covered.
Bake at 350* for 25-30 minutes.
Top with all your favorite taco ingredients;  we use more cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, beans, olives...

And the most important part, serve with your favorite margarita!

Flannel Lined Washcloths

It seems as though everyone I know is having or has had a baby of recent.
Though there are no babies (with the exception of puppies) in my house, I want in on the baby crafts!
Thus, I thought the flannel lined washcloths were an excellent addition to my classroom, where I teach giant, eleven year old babies.
These washcloths are simple WalMart wash cloths paired with a 11 1/2 inch square flannel sheets.  Even me, an inept sewer could take care of these.  After cutting them, I sewed them, facing in leaving a small hole for flipping it right side out. A second seam around the edge for finishing detail and to close up the hole!
I think they are super cute and they are really soft!  Plus, this whole craft was less than $5!  Yay!
You know you love lime green camo....

Gus is not a fan of modeling...

Attila, my diva, thinks it is smashing!

You can do it too!  It's sew easy!  Pun intended!

Things I Love...

So, I have a really long list of things that I love.  In addition to my craft rescue hero and my sweet furbabies, the rest are pretty much crafting supplies.  My new-found joy is no exception... Baker's Twine.  I have seen it so many ways in the past, but now my favorite scrapbooking store Scrappin' In The City is now selling it by the yard!  And for a meager 50 cents a yard!  Pull out your quarters!
This delightful twine comes from The Twinery which has tons of colors and a super cute blog with lots of great ideas!  Happy Crafting Everyone!

Happy Easter

May your Easter be filled with sweet memories,
Happiness, smiles, and tasty treats
May it be filled with colors so bright
Neon enough to light up the night

Courtesy of Dad
When you feast may dinner be delish
Tasty enough to lick your dish
And when you are finished you want to get off your legs
'Cause your belly is full of ham and eggs

"Ham and Eggs... Revisited" by Lesley Paige

After church it is time to relax
Especially if someone will scratch your back
You can't be scratched, if in the corner you sleeps
Dreaming of Busy Bones and Peeps!

After the feast we went for a walk,
Enjoying and laughing an Easter talk!
But watch in those trees for Angry Birds,
I think they plan to drop some ...

Craft Rescue Hero's Angry Birds
Last but not least, I hope your day is a blast
Shared with memories intended to last!
This poem might send your for an Easter day looper,
But we really hope that your day is SUPER!

Easter Table Centerpieces

I was pondering what to put on my Easter table for a centerpiece.  There were so many cute ideas in my Southern Living and Good Housekeeping magazines, but nothing was really simple.  I ended up combining a few different projects to get this!
They are blown easter eggs, dyed in a regular dye kit and then I drew the initials on the with a permanent market.  They are sitting in mini-clay pots I got at Hobby Lobby for $1.99 with a 40% off coupon!

I was thinking this would be really simple and fast... recalling an egg-blowing experience of my childhood and I can safely say that egg blowing was not super easy!  I thought I was going to have an aneurysm.  To solve this problem, we made a bigger hole and it got easier.  To blow easter eggs, you poke two holes in opposite ends and blow on one end and the other side is the exit for your egg insides.
We used a nail and a straight pin to make our original holes... they were later expanded!

Blow Hard Craft Rescue Hero!
Anyone for scrambled eggs?
I dyed them with a regular PAAS Egg Kit in my homeroom class and then let them dry for a while.  I picked a black marker that I tested with a small dot to make sure it wouldn't smear and then drew my letters.  I ended up thickening up my lines with several passes.  It isn't perfect, but they look pretty good!
With dye...
Not bad!
I hope everyone has a very Happy Easter!
