Dear Joann's

You have broken my heart!  Class canceled - at the last minute!
I had plans for that shirt... next week!
Anyways, rescheduled for the next two weeks.  In the mean time, I am slaving away at school.  Today, I managed to be at two school meetings at the same time, fairly impressive!

New project tomorrow - sleep tonight!

Hooray for Today!

Guess what today is???

Sewing class day!  I am going back for another round of fun with Madge!

I am supposed to make the first half of a shirt today.  I will report back tomorrow with notifications of any casualties.  Death by sewing machine - it could take me!

Sewing Class - Part II

I so enjoyed myself at sewing class on Sunday, I went ahead and signed up for another class Wednesday morning!  I got all my supplied and packed my bags for another day of adventure.  My favorite sewing instructor, Madge, was teaching this class as well, to me and another lady.  And then, the other lady didn't show up, so it ended up being a personal lesson.  Just fine with me!  I have a lot of questions and need extra attention!
But, at the end of three hours, I have a throw pillow, pattern reading skills, and a new friend named Madge.  There are no in-process pictures because I was busy thinking, but here is my final product!  What do you think of the contrasting pattern on the inside?

Throw pillows for Christmas all around!

Sewing Class

For all of you who read with bated breath and pencil all of my events on your calendar, you know that yesterday I finally got to take my sewing class at JoAnn's.  It was really fabulous and taught by an extremely patient lady named Madge who had been sewing since she was five.  She was really nice and helpful and never got frustrated with the six of us making a huge mess with pillow cases!  She was so patient, I signed up for her next level class on Wednesday morning - watch out for a new post!
Anyways, without further ado: my first pillowcase!
Argyle and Polka Dots - Does it get any better?
"So soft and silky, just like me" - Gus
"Mom, this part is my favorite... it looks good with my nails" - Gus
A pillow made for two - or three if Attila would join us

On the Guest Bed

Attila wouldn't model on the pillow, so I just took his picture being cute!
Every night, Gus gets in bed and the pillow falls on his head, because he is pulling it over on himself.  Every night he panics, flips it over and lays on it.  Apparently, afternoon pillow modeling is no different.
So, what do you think?  I really like it and was thinking of making 3 more to go on my guest bed.  The comforter is dark brown with beige sheets.  I think it would spruce up the room and the blue in the argyle and dots matches the walls.  It could be an easy way to make my guest room a little more personal.

The Start of New Projects

Now that the wedding of the weekend is over and my summer vacation has officially started, it is time to get some awesome new projects going on!  I have some fabulous new fabric and papers to work on all sorts of things.
I trucked upstairs to get started and then I saw my craft room.  I would post a picture, but the lens of my camera cracked with all the mess.  And yes Mom, I heard your voice "Clean up what you are working on before you start a new project."
In the meantime, here is a preview of what is in store in fabric!

This delightful combination of polka dot and argyle is for my sewing class at JoAnn's.  A perfect pillowcase in the works!

This is a teal and bright green fabric for my downstairs bathroom window treatment.  I am preparing to say goodbye to the airline blanket thumb tacked up (no lie) and hello to something much more fabulous!

That is how we are getting started with summer!  More posts to come!

Heartbreak In Craft World

I had this fabulous post all planned out about my first day of sewing class at JoAnn's last night.  It was beautiful, me and my sewing machine by the front door with a self-timer picture.  My fabulous argyle an polka dot pillow case that I was taking to a wedding this weekend to show off.  Life was going to be just right.

Until the phone rang.

Class canceled.  JoAnn's you have broken my heart.  Truly.

My fabulous post will have to wait 11 days, until my class we rescheduled.

Don't even THINK about canceling on me again.
I have big plans for you sewing class - including some fabulous new curtains for my downstairs bathroom re-do that I will start showing you pictures of tomorrow!  Until then, we are off to a wedding in NC!
