So, how did I do it? It was pretty easy in the long run... the steps are simple and very repetitive!
I bought a Latch Hook Canvas at Hobby Lobby and trimmed it down the size I wanted. I did not measure... just eye balled it!
I followed the directions from THIS blog.... with a few alternations. My fabric strips are1/2 inch by 4 inches and there are a lot of them! The blue is about 2/3 of a full size fitted sheets and the white is a queen size sheet (and a little more). I used sheets because it is a huge amount of fabric for a reasonable price. They are WalMart sheets.
Latch hooking is pretty simple. I used a You Tube tutorial to remind myself. I latch hooked in elementary school and it did come right back to me.
The biggest investment in this project was time. It took me a lot of hours.... my Craft Rescue Hero estimates 48-50 hours! However, I would definitely do this again! Perhaps next time in bright colors for a floor rug. It makes a huge price difference if you are making a large rug... maybe not for a bath mat! However it does feel just fabulous on my toes out of the shower!

HOORAY!
I can't believe it! I am so excited to be finished with this delightful project!
That is right - the bath mat is complete!
I really proud of it and cannot wait to take a shower... as soon as possible!
It turned out really well and is definitely a treat for the toes!
Even my Craft Rescue Hero, who swore it was a silly project, says if feels good on his toes!
And, of course, my snugglers, who would snuggle with a cactus, said it was awesome. Disclaimer: No dogs are being hurt in this picture... this is how they scratch each other behind the ears.
Needlesss to say, I am more than proud of myself and am thinking of installing the foot car washes scrubbers in my bathtub so only exceptionally clean feet touch my freshly made bath mat!
I'll post more pictures and a tutorial later this week... but for now, I am off to enjoy my new completed craft!
I've linked this up to Tatertots and Jello Weekend Wrap Up Party! Check out my project and all the other awesome projects out there!

Soooooo Close!
... and not just to the last day of school - although there are 5 1/2 more days! Not that I am counting.
But, my fingers are crippled and my eyes are blurry... because my bath mat is almost done! I don't have any pictures - I was up until after 1 last night working. I just need a little more fabric and about 2 hours and it will be completed!
Get excited... I think you'll see a picture by Friday!
